Travel Tips

Exploring Cyberspace

We all have our favorite web sites and our choices may be as personal as our selection of movies or music. While you probably know how to find Amazon and eBay, the sites described here are less known. They've all been chosen because they have something to offer the adventurous spirit.

www.thewebmuse.com — Web Muse Anita Larson offers fabulous advice for creating a web site that works. She also has a series of teleclasses, which I highly recommend.

www.trainerslink.com — This site welcomes listings for teleclasses. So if you've got one, send it off and get some free exposure.

www.idea-a-day.com — This is the place to go to sign up for a brand new idea each and every day in your e-mail box. Some ideas are wacky, some are potential business ideas. Some will make you say, "Why didn't I think of that?"

www.rightonthemoney.org — This is the site of the popular PBS series "Right on the Money." Even if you're unable to view the show, you can get all sorts of great advice and information from their archives. You'll find everything from "Making Your Living as an Artist" to "Surviving a Cash Flow Slump." This is financial advice that's not stuffy.

www.heifer.org — If you share my passion for spreading the spirit of free enterprise, join me in supporting the terrific work of Heifer International, which provides livestock to would-be farmers in undeveloped countries. In addition, they provide training to help new entrepreneurs run their businesses. They also are working tirelessly to end world hunger.

www.howmuchjoy.com — Suzanne Falter-Barnes is the author of the inspiring How Much Joy Can You Stand? She continues to share joyful and creative ideas on this site, which describes itself as "a place to face your fears and create your dreams." You'll find articles on creativity along with a listing of teleclasses, seminars and retreats.

www.enterprisingwomenexhibit.org — One of the most inspiring museum exhibits I've seen in a long time is the Enterprising Women exhibit. It will be touring the country until 2005, but even if you can't see it in person, this site includes some of the great stories it features. You can also share your own personal journey of being an enterprising woman.

www.changingcourse.com — Ex-corporate worker Valerie Young now spends her time helping others find creative alternatives to a traditional job. This site has a rich archive of articles and resources for those just starting down this road.

www.expatexchange.com — If you're thinking about living abroad, this site is loaded with tips and personal experiences about what it takes to set up residence around the world.

www.handcraftedholidays.com — Kathy Brassill has gathered an abundance of resources (mostly in the UK) for the fiber artist. She also plans customized trips for those enjoying needlework.

www.asktheinventors.com — The sisters who came up with Ghostboard have created this site to help new inventors get started in the right direction. While you're there, don't miss reading their own story.

www.cellmanners.com — This site is devoted to making the world of cellphones a politer place. We applaud their efforts and have found some useful tips and reminders as well.

www.karynruthwhite.com — Although this site exists to promote the very funny Karyn Ruth White's speaking business, her audio clips and articles are day brighteners.

There's more where this came from.
